Hier kommt er schon, der zweite Streich des “Anti-Solipism“-Doppels der dänischen Voodoomagier von REVEREND SHINE SNAKE OIL CO., die hier wiederum ein espressoschwarzes Gebräu aus Blues, Rock, Soul, Funk, Folk, Gospel und Jazz servieren. Ach ja, um mal den Titel des Albums zu klären: Frontman Angeryman alias Claudius Pratt führt dazu wie folgt aus: „Solipsism(; from Latin solus, meaning “alone”, and ipse, meaning “self”) is the philosophical idea that only one’s own mind is sure to exist. As an epistemological position, solipsism holds that knowledge of anything outside one’s own mind is unsure; the external world and other minds cannot be known, and might not exist outside the mind. As a metaphysical position, solipsism goes further to the conclusion that the world and other minds do not exist. Extreme egocentrism! “Anti-Solipsism is my attempt at putting others needs ahead of my own. I grew up in the “me” generation and I know my own selfish ego. It seems to me all that is wrong with the world comes from our extreme selfishness. It is as if we fear being left out, as if there will be nothing left if we do not attempt to take it all, first. How can we hope to build a future if we lay claim to all of existence in perpetuity? Thereby defining that which is meant to be immeasurable.”

Also, nicht nur ein schräger Voodoopriester, sondern auch ein Philosoph, dieser Angeryman. Diesmal wurde das Ganze live eingefangen, im Härlanda, einem ehemaligen Gefängnis im schwedischen Göteborg. Irgendwie eine passende Location, kommt das Ganze (auch analog zum Coverartwork) dieses Mal noch etwas finsterer daher als beim Vorgänger.

Zwar ist der Überraschungseffekt diesmal weg, da man ja schon weiß, was einen erwartet und manchmal hat das von der Konzeption her faszinierende Gebräu sogar einige Längen (Möbius), aber insgesamt ist dies immer noch ein ebenso aufregendes wie anregendes Stück Musik, das einem hier präsentiert wird. Diese Mischung aus SCREAMING JAY HAWKINS, DIRTY DOZEN BRASS BAND, TOM WAITS und FIREWATER steht nach wie vor ziemlich einzigartig in der Landschaft und ist ein mehr als heißer Tipp für die anstehende Festivalsaison. Es muss ja nicht unbedingt in einem ehemaligen Gefängnis sein.
